What are updates?

RenewMap continuously monitors and records changes to renewable energy projects tracked in our database. Updates capture meaningful changes to a project’s data, allowing you to stay informed without manually checking individual projects. Like the table view, you can apply filters to customise which updates you’d like to receive based on a project’s details.

By default, RenewMap notifies you of major updates from the last two weeks, including:

• Updates to development applications (DAs)
• Updates to a project’s environmental protection and biodiversity conservation (EPBC) status
• New projects being tracked by RenewMap
• Changes to a project’s lifecycle status, for example when a project moves from development to commissioning
• Other noteworthy announcements

How to view updates

Updates appear in two places:

• As a dedicated Updates map layer, shown as pulsating project markers
• In a centralised updates panel, accessible from the map interface

You can view an update by selecting a project’s pulsating dot on the map.

To view all updates at once, select the Updates button from the top navigation bar.

When you view a project update, RenewMap automatically removes the pulsating indicator for that project from the Updates map layer.

How to filter updates

To filter updates:

1. Select the Filter button in the updates panel.
2. Select the filter you want to apply. For example, Technology.
3. Select the filter values you want to apply. For example, Battery, Solar PV, and Solar Thermal. The udpates panel only shows project updates that match the filter criteria.

To save your filter, select the Filter button and choose Save update filter. Note that the updates panel and email subscriptions share the same filter. If you update one, you also update the other.

How to subscribe to email updates

Once you’ve set the update filter to your liking, you can subscribe to receive updates to the email address associated with your RenewMap account.

To subscribe to email updates:

1. Select Updates from the top nav bar.
2. Select Subscribe. The Project update email settings dialog appears.
3. Toggle on Turn on emails.
4. Optionally update the project updates filter. Note that the updates panel and email subscriptiuons share the same filter. If you update one, you also update the other.

Emails are sent in within 15 minutes of updates being published in RenewMap.

How to unsubscribe from email updates

To unsubscribe from email updates:

1. Select Updates from the top nav bar.
2. Select Subscribe. The Project update email settings dialog appears.
3. Toggle off Turn on emails.

How to hide or dismiss project updates

By default, RenewMap enables the Updates layer. You may wish to hide project updates from the map view. To hide updates, uncheck the Updates layer from the layer panel. Learn more about layers.

To clear update notifications from the updates panel, select Updates from the top nav and choose Mark all as read.
